The Hallucinogenic Toreador

The Hallucinogenic Toreador is one of the most beautiful paintings. I write as a layperson and not an art critic, owning a print of the painting that hangs on a wall in my living room. A gift from a thoughtful friend for my birthday who knew I really loved it. The wonderful thing about this painting is that details reveal themselves over time from many different perspective. It’s one for the ages.

Metamorphosis of Narcissus

This was the first Dalí painting I saw at the Tate Modern in London. It lives in the permanent collection and is often on display there, as it was when I went to go and see the Rothko room in 2015 or 2016. This is a very small painting but the paint, the detail and the colouring is beautiful.

The Hallucinogenic Toreador

Both of the above paintings are beautiful and detailed masterpieces. One thing that is interesting is that they are two completely different scales, with the Metamorphosis being rather small and the The Hallucinogenic Toreador being a very large piece as can be seen below where it’s on display.
